Dipl. Ing. (Graduate Engineer) Martin Piroth had the idea to manufacture drum shells from thick-walled (6 - 7 mm) metal. To refine the sound characteristics, he coats the shells with a ceramic band. This ceramic is applied using a thermal spray process (flame spray).
